Jonathan Salamon '10 Presented with 2019 Alumni Artistic Achievement Award

S. Veneruso
Jon Salamon '10 was the recipient of the St. Luke's Alumni Artistic Achievement Award on April 12, 2019. Jon, who performed at this year's State of the School in October, impressed the crowd of alumni, faculty, students, and friends with his magnificent harpsichord skills.

Jon received his bachelor's degree from NYU, where he majored in piano performance, and his Master of Music degree in harpsichord performance from Yale. He is now working toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Yale.

During the ceremony, Jon was introduced by two of his classmates, Olivia Tow '10 and Ali Tesluk '10, who originally nominated him for the award. In his acceptance remarks, Jon spoke about the influence of his St. Luke's teachers like Bob Leinbach, Dale Griffa, and Peter Valera and how their courses and guidance helped foster his love of music. "I am very grateful for the encouragement I received at St. Luke’s and often reflect fondly on how the school has shaped my appreciation for music, the arts, education, and service," he remarked.

After performing pieces by Domenico Scarlatti and Johann Sebastian Bach, Jon answered questions from an eager audience. Also in attendance were Anna Van Munching '10, Campbell Gallagher '10, Jacob Parker-Burgard '10, past award recipients Payton Cosell Turner '04 and Peter Bush Swanberg '73, Alumni Association Board members Liz Pettibone DeFilippo '93 and Karen McKeever Stamoulis '89, and former SLS Director of Bands Bob Leinbach.
The Alumni Artistic Achievement Award was part of SpringFest, a celebration of academics and the arts at St. Luke's.
